16 Early Signs of Pregnancy

Sore breasts
back pain, heightened sense of smell and more early signs of pregnancy.

It's been a couple weeks since you did the deed, and now you're dying to know: am I pregnant? You'll need a home pregnancy test or a blood test at your OB's office to know for sure, but until you can take one (the best time is once your period is late) click through these early signs of pregnancy and see if any of them feel familiar.
Shortness of Breath
Do you get winded going up the stairs all of a sudden? It might be because you’re pregnant. The growing fetus needs oxygen, leaving you a little short. Sorry to say, this one may continue throughout your pregnancy, especially as your growing baby starts to put pressure on your lungs and diaphragm.
Sore Breasts
Putting on your bra this morning felt like mild torture. And are you imagining it, or are the girls a little bigger? Tender and heavy-feeling breasts, darkening of the areolas and even more pronounced veins on your chest can be a first sign that you're pregnant. Wear your most supportive bra—to bed if you need it—to help ease discomfort.
Fatigue
You didn't even make it through one page of your book last night before falling asleep. If you're suddenly exhausted, it might be a response to the increasing hormones in your body. For many women, tiredness continues through the first trimester, but then ebbs in the second.
Nausea
Most pregnant women start to get the queasies when they're about 6 weeks along, but some can experience morning sickness (which unfortunately can occur morning, noon and night) earlier. It will most likely subside as you enter the second trimester. In the meantime, try to eat foods that will settle your stomach, like crackers or ginger ale.
Frequent Urination
If you suddenly find yourself unable to sleep through the night without a trip to the loo, it might be a sign. During pregnancy your body produces extra fluids, which has your bladder working overtime—and you taking a lot of pee breaks.
Headaches
More early signs of pregnancy include an aching head, a result of changes in hormones. Just in case you are indeed pregnant, take pg-safe acetaminophen instead of ibuprofen to deal with the pain.
Backaches
Is your lower back a little sore? If you don't normally have back pain, it could mean your ligaments are loosening. Sorry, this one might continue through your pregnancy as your weight gain and shifting center of gravity throw your posture out of whack.
Cramping
Is it PMS or pregnancy? It's hard to tell, but if you're feeling crampy, it might be your uterus stretching to get ready for a baby.
Cravings or Food Aversions
Suddenly, you cannot get enough citrus. Or perhaps fish now turns your stomach. If you notice food issues that weren't there before, it could be your body telling you you're pregnant.
Constipation and Bloating
You swear you fit in your skinny jeans just last week. If you're feeling a little puffy or backed up, it might be extra progesterone due to pregnancy, which slows down your digestive system.
Mood Swings
WWIII erupted over your husband's failure to put his socks in the hamper. Moody much? If you're feeling a little hormonal, it might be because your body is adjusting to well, new hormones. Assure your husband that the roller coaster emotions will pass.
Elevated Basal Body Temperature
If you've actively been trying to get pregnant, you may have been charting your basal body temp to pinpoint ovulation. Generally, your BBT is elevated from ovulation until you get your period 2 weeks later. If it stays elevated beyond two weeks, it might be because you're pregnant.
Super Smell
Your garbage can now makes you gag—guess you're off trash duty! If you're repulsed by certain smells, or have an increased sensitivity to odors, it may mean you've got a bun in the oven.
Dizziness or Fainting
This is the go-to symptom they use to signify pregnancy in movies, but it's based in reality. Low blood sugar or blood pressure can cause a woozy episode. Make sure you eat enough and stay well-hydrated.
Spotting
Darn! You got your period. Or did you? If it was much lighter than normal, and a few days earlier than expected, you may actually be experiencing implantation bleeding, where the fertilized egg attaches to the uterine wall and causes a little bloodshed.
Late Period
Many of the early signs of pregnancy are also symptoms of PMS. How to tell the difference? The most telling clue yet will be a missed period. If your cycle is fairly regular and you're late, you should head to the drugstore.
Positive Pregnancy Test
You won't know for sure whether you're a mama-to-be until you do the pee-stick test. If you get a negative result and you still don't get your period, it just might just be too early for the test to detect. In the meantime, look a few of these weird pregnancy symptoms that can appear upon conception. Wait a few days and try the test again. And if it's positive—congratulations!

10 SIGNS YOU’RE WASTING YOUR LIFE

When we were kids, we all wanted to be a great spouse, a great big brother/sister, a great lover, etc. We all wanted to be a doctor, lawyer, engineer, pastor, or a high government official. If so, how’s that working out for you? Hopefully, it’s going great and you are living the life of your dreams.

But for the rest of you who are not, here are 10 signs that you might be wasting your life… but you don’t want to admit it:

1). You find yourself complaining a lot.
I know people who are constantly overwhelmed with life. They complain about their job, their salary, their neighbors or the attitude of their teachers, pastors, or spouse.

If you do, then you are doing nothing but exuding negative energy. Negativity doesn’t change things. It keeps you stuck. So change your thoughts and talk about what you appreciate about your life and your job, not what you don’t like.

2). You don’t feed your mind.
If you’re not continually growing and learning as a person, then you are stagnant – just like a still pond that doesn’t move and soon starts stinking.

That’s what your mind does if you don’t keep it active and learn new
things. Challenge your mind with a new skill such as bead making, piano lessons, corel draw designing, autocad designing, a new programming language. Challenge your mind with a new novel or a book on marriage, relationship, money, community service, or leadership.

3). You have a lot of negative self-talk.
Closely monitor what you say to yourself, because you will find that your life matches your thoughts.

The first day I went to Abuja to write an interview for Housemanship in a certain Federal institution, I saw a crowd of about 400 doctors who came for a space of only about 24 House Officers. I told myself that it was game over…and it was. At the end, I was not even shortlisted for the oral interview. I went home from the written interview.

You will always experience physically your most dominant thoughts. If you are always talking down yourself, you are wasting your life without knowing.

4). You feel uninspired always.
There has to be something that you enjoy doing, so you need to rediscover what excites you, and then do more of it. If you sit down all day, uninspired at everything, your life is obviously ebbing away.

Some have passion for writing, women rights activism, unionism, philantrophy, etc. Discover yours and start living.

5). You always think someone owes you a living.
It is a global problem. Most of us think someone is responsible for our success in life. I used to think that way too; that somehow, my success was in the hands of someone; that someone somewhere was owing me a living.

Its not unusual to find people who blame their parents for not being a little more wealthy, for not sending them to school, for not sending them to UK, for not opening a beauty salon for them, etc.

Wake up! Nobody owes you a dime.

6). You don’t plan for your future.
If you don’t have a goal or a plan, then you are like a boat that is wandering aimlessly in the ocean hoping to end up somewhere good. You can’t do that and expect to have a great life later. You have to make a step-by-step guide to get where you want to get to in life. You’ll never hit a target you can’t see.

7). You spend too much time with people who don’t contribute to your growth.
I like to call them Energy Vampires. They suck the life out of you and give you nothing positive in return. Instead, go find growth-oriented people to be around with.

Love is a command, but association is a choice. As you go on in life, never be afraid to say goodbye to people who no longer make you happy, encourage you, support you, nor defend you when you’re unavailable to defend yourself in the court of people’s opinion.

Your need for acceptance can make you invisible in this world. I have made mistakes and learnt from them, I have fought friends, and embraced enemies… all for the sake ofFOCUS

8.). You’re addicted to your phone.
Sure, cell phones are fantastic. I literarily live inside my Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1, but that’s because I read a lot of my ebooks there, surf the news, and blog.

While that’s fun, think about all the time you are wasting with your phone if you are doing things that do not increase your value. You can’t watch porn all night and claim your life is not being wasted. You cant play all the android games in your cellphone from morning till night and claim your life is not being wasted. Even worse, think about all the relationships that might be affected if you stay all night playing games and watching porn instead of staying awake to hear your spouse out.

9). You’re not taking care of your body.
Many people wish to be slim, fit and trim, but it is only a wish. They do things that contradict their wishes by over eating, excessive drinking of alcohol, etc.

Not only is sleep essential to your health, so is food and exercise.

I know I’m not telling you anything you don’t already know. But eating a balanced, healthy diet and moving your body around truly does have more positive effects other than weight loss. It affects your mental attitude and overall well-being.

So take a look at your diet and level of activity. You might find that making a few small changes will greatly improve your life.

10). You don’t like to leave your comfort zone.
I know how easy it is to live in a comfort zone. In fact, when I go to a familiar restaurant in Portharcourt, I always order the same thing.

Not because I’m afraid to try something new, but because I like the food I normally order.

But that’s not the kind of comfort zone I’m talking about. I’m talking about not taking a risk that will improve your life.

In Summary:

Life should be exciting! So if you’re not enjoying life, take a look at some of the changes you can make to get you to a better place.

So if any of these 10 points sounded like you, don’t despair. We can make changes. None of us can be so flawless. After all, I wrote these things above yet I’m not flawless. I’m a decent gentleman, not a perfect one.

But if any of the points above addressed you, and you toss this aside after reading; as most people will likely do, then you’re wasting your life but you won’t admit it.

TWO IMPORTANT MANAGEMENT LESSONS I LEARNT FROM A 500 NAIRA NOTE.

1. It happened some time ago. I was in an audience listening to a motivational speaker. The speaker got out his wallet & pulled out a 500 Naira note. Holding it up, he asked, "Who wants this 500 naira note?" Lots of hands went up. Including mine. A slow chorus began to build as people began to shout "Me!" "Me!" I began to wonder who the lucky one would be who the speaker would choose. And I also secretly wondered (and I am sure others did too) why he would simply give away 500 naira. Even as the shouts of "I want it" grew louder, I noticed a young woman running down the aisle. She ran up onto the stage, went up to the speaker, and grabbed the five 500 naira note from his hand. "Well done, young lady," said the speaker into the microphone. The speaker simply say "Most of us just sit and wait for good things to happen. That's of no use. You've got to make things happen. Make a move" 'Simply thinking about doing something is of no use and not good enough'. Our lives are like that. We all see opportunities around us. We all want the good things. But the problem is we don't take action. We all want the 500 naira notes on offer. But we don't make the move. We look at it longingly. Get up, and do something about it. Don't worry about what other people might think. TAKE ACTION!

2. Later, the speaker got another 500 naira note and held it up for all to see, I thought I knew what's up. But he just asked a simple question. "How much is this worth?" "Five Hundred naira!" the crowd yelled in unison. "Right," said the speaker. He then took the note and crumpled it into a ball and asked "How much is it worth now?" "Five Hundred naira!" screamed the audience. He then threw the note on the ground, stamped all over it and picked up the note and asked one more time: "And how much is it worth now?" "Five Hundred naira!" was the response. "I want you to remember this," said the speaker. "Just because someone crumples it, or stamps on it, the value of the note does not diminish. We should all be like the 500 naira note..
In our lives, there will be times when we feel crushed, stamped over, beaten. But never let your self-worth diminish. Just because someone chooses to crush you -- that doesn't change your worth one bit! Don't allow your self-worth to diminish because someone says something nasty or does something dirty to you." Never let your self-worth diminish.

How to Conduct Feasibility Study

Do you know how to conduct feasibility study on a business idea? What if I provide you with a feasibility study template and sample? If I show you a practical feasibility study outline, will you appreciate it? If your answer is yes, then read on.

In the previous article wrote, I stressed the importance of conducting feasibility study on your business idea before taking it to the marketplace. Today, I will be teaching you how to conduct feasibility study on your business idea. Since conducting feasibility study is such an important process that must be carried out on your business idea or proposal, I will advise you print out or bookmark this article for future reference.

“A man that is prepared has half won the battle.” – Sydney M. Bremer
5 Reasons Why You Must Conduct Feasibility Study
What is the importance of conducting feasibility study before starting a business? Can conducting feasibility study give your business an advantage and help reduce the high rate of business failure?

A feasibility report is an often ignored but vital prerequisite to building a successful business from scratch. In fact, not doing feasibility is one of the silly mistakes entrepreneurs make when starting a business. So in this article, i will be stressing the need to conduct feasibility study.

“Starting a business is like jumping out of an airplane without a parachute. In mid air the entrepreneur begins building a parachute and hope it opens before hitting the ground.” – Rich Dad.
Few years ago, before starting a business of my own, I was privileged to assist my dad in overseeing the affairs of his business. Our company was in the business of importing and distributing sanitary wares.

Business moved on smoothly for many years till we began to experience a decline in sales and decrease in profit margin due to stiff competition and inconsistent government policies. My dad decided to diversify so he made a move into the clothing line based on the recommendation of a nephew.

Since he started his first business from scratch without conducting a feasibility study, he thought he could repeat the feat in the clothing line. As expected, the business flopped in less than two years due to many unforeseen factors I wouldn’t want to mention here; and we lost a lot of money.

Though this experience was painful, I learned a lesson I will never forget in my life and that is: “The Importance of Conducting a Feasibility Study before Starting a Business.” Now i know many out there have made this same business mistake and many are still to bound to make it. Having shared my story; let me highlight five reasons why you need to conduct feasibility study before starting a business.

Importance of Conducting Feasibility Study Before Starting a business
a. Feasibility study will help you to determine the profitability of the business venture. Before starting a business, seasoned entrepreneurs and investors would want to know if the business would be worth their time, effort and resources. It is worthwhile to know that many entrepreneurs have abandoned solid business ideas because the profitability could not be ascertained on conducting a feasibility study on the business idea.

b. A feasibility study report will help prove to the entrepreneur, venture capitalists, lenders and investors the existence of the market, the liquidity of the business venture and the expected return on investment.

c. Feasibility study will help you identify the flaws, business challenges, strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats and unforeseen circumstances that might affect the success and sustainability of the business venture. Just like the case of my dad’s business, the business failure and loss of money would have been avoided if we had carried out a feasibility study. We simply jumped in based on someone’s recommendations because we were flushed with cash and we paid dearly for it.

d. Before starting a business, feasibility study will enable you estimate the financial, human and technological resources that will be needed to ensure the successful launching of the business. Feasibility study helps to reveal the number and level of skill or unskilled workers to be employed and their salary scale.

e. Feasibility study will help you to determine the amount of capital required to start the business. It will also help you in establishing the budget plan, working capital and cash flow projections of the business.

As a last note, my advice to you is this:

“Never invest a dime without first carrying out feasibility study on the business idea.”
How to Conduct a Feasibility Study – Sample Template
A Typical Feasibility Study Template and Outline

1. Economic Analysis

I believe this is where your feasibility study should start from. What is the essence of carrying out market research or even going ahead to start a business when the economy does not favor entrepreneurship or private ventures?

Analyzing the economy will help you align your planned business with the economic situation on ground. Economic feasibility should include analysis on government’s fiscal and monetary policies, import and export rate, inflation rate, tax rate, and currency exchange rate and so on.

2. Market Analysis

The next thing you should be analyzing is the market for your proposed business idea. Carrying out a feasibility study on the market will enable you know if there is actually a need or market for your business idea. Market analysis will also help you to determine the size of the market, demographics and psychographics of the market, level of competition and the size of the market you can compete for.

3. Technical Analysis

This part of a feasibility study deals with the technological requirements of the business. Technical analysis will enable you determine the method of production to be employed, equipments, spare parts and tools, site development, supporting facilities, the nature of the factory building, fencing and so on.

4. Location Analysis

This is carried out with a view to determine the best location for the business in terms of nearness to high traffic roads, nearness to infrastructure, accessibility to customers, ease of transportation of raw materials and finished products, nearness to cheap labour, cost of land acquisition and so on.

5. Manpower Analysis-: This part of a feasibility study deals with the process of estimating the level of skill, professionalism and number of employees to be hired by the business. The salary scale, incentives and pay package are also estimated at this point.

6. Financial Analysis

Financial analysis will be dealing with the estimation of the total capital involved, capital expenditures, working capital; profit and loss analysis, pricing of products, cash flow projections, projected sales revenue and the entire project viability. Everything concerning finance should be dealt with at this juncture. If you are trying to raise venture capital for your small business startup, then you have to do a clean job on the financial section of the feasibility report because this is where investors focus on. All they are interested in knowing is how much is the percentage return on investment and the payback period.

7. Sensitivity and Risk Analysis

This is the last part of a feasibility study and probably the most important. After all other factors have been analyzed and proven viable, sensitivity and risk analysis can come in. Building a business without properly conducting a risk analysis is like flying a plane without regards to weather condition. Before any business idea is taken to the marketplace, its risk to reward ratio should be analyzed, the sensitivity to competition should be determined and the liquidation rate of companies in the industry of your proposed business venture should be calculated. With results obtained from sensitivity and risk analysis, growth and survival strategies can be developed for your proposed business.

As a final note, if conducting feasibility study is too technical for you; then consider hiring a professional or a business consultant to do the dirty work for you. It’s going to save you time and energy. And just before I drop my pen, always bear in mind that carrying out feasibility study on your business idea will enable you write a business plan and help you forge a competitive advantage for your business and increase your chance of success.
